On the morning of May 6, 2023, Professor Dingyi Wang, an awardee of the Ministry of Education Overseas Renowned Teacher Program (Xi'an Jiaotong University), from University of New Brunswick in Canada, was invited by the School of Electronic Engineering and the School of Resources and Environment to deliver an academic lecture titled "From Top to Bottom: Observing Emissions, Aerospace Remote Sensing, and Carbon Neutrality". The lecture was presided over by Deputy Dean Shi Zhao from the School of Electronic Engineering, and faculty and students from relevant fields attended the event.

Professor Wang provided a detailed exposition on the "bottom-up" approach to compiling fossil fuel emission inventories and estimating terrestrial carbon fluxes, along with the carbon assimilation inversion system. He introduced the process of synchronously optimizing the inversion of regional anthropogenic emissions and natural fluxes based on atmospheric transport models, optimization algorithms, atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations observed from sky-ground stations, and natural ecological fluxes. He also discussed the application value and development potential of this system.

During the interactive discussion session, Professor Wang patiently and meticulously addressed questions raised by the faculty and students present. His excellent presentation not only greatly benefited the audience but also provided guidance to students on how to discover, analyze, solve problems, and validate results in their future studies and research, thereby achieving a breakthrough in their self-worth.
