From December 27 to December 30, the China Meteorological Observation Technology Exchange Conference and the 2019 International Conference on Meteorological Observation, co-sponsored by CUIT, the Meteorological Detection Center of China Meteorological Administration and the Key Opening Laboratory of Atmospheric Detection of China Meteorological Administration, and hosted by the College of Electronic Engineering and the Science and Technology Department of CUIT, was held at the Homeland International Hotel. More than 300 experts, teachers, and students from universities and research institutes, such as the United States, Italy, Japan, South Korea, the Meteorological Detection Center of China Meteorological Administration, Information Center, China Academy of Meteorological Sciences, Nanjing University, Chengdu University of Information Engineering, attended this conference.

At the opening ceremony, President Yu Minming said that in the face of "intelligent meteorology" and "global meteorology" construction needs, China needs to comprehensively improve the meteorological observation equipment manufacturing capabilities, intelligent and collaborative observation capabilities, meteorological observation equipment integrated security capabilities and integrated application technology capabilities. The conference will provide a platform for experts and scholars to exchange new ideas, new methods, and new technologies in the field of meteorological exploration and atmospheric science research by conducting technical exchanges in the field of comprehensive meteorological observation and seeking common development ideas.

Li Lin, deputy director of the Meteorological Detection Center of the China Meteorological Administration, said that the conference will focus on the key research and development directions and key technologies in the field of observation to carry out in-depth discussions. At the same time, constructive opinions will be formed on how to make full use of information technology to build a new meteorological observation business model, promote the change of observation business technology system, and improve the quality and efficiency of comprehensive meteorological observation data.

Vice President He Jianxin delivered a greeting speech, saying that China's meteorological observation technology has achieved world-renowned achievements, and we have assumed more and more international responsibilities. Our school has long been committed to the exploration and practice of the discipline construction and talent training mode of atmospheric sounding, forming a "combination of gas and electricity, mainly electricity" talent training mode. Our school has built a stable scientific research team with scientific research to solve the atmospheric detection business needs at the core. Scientific research results are widely used in the meteorological business. The conference attracted many experts and scholars from home and abroad, and we believe that through this technical exchange conference, we will be able to collide and exchange results around the global trends of scientific and technological innovation and the needs of meteorological business development.

The main objective of the conference is to promote the theoretical level and technical development of meteorological detection in China, improve the ability to predict weather and climate environment changes, and enhance the level of defense against catastrophic weather. During the 4-day conference, the participants will discuss the topics of meteorological radar observation technology and its application, satellite-based meteorological observation technology and its application, and meteorological observation data quality control and optimization.

Many universities and research institutions at home and abroad were invited to attend this conference and made thematic reports, such as Colorado State University, Italian Institute of Atmospheric Science and Climate, Osaka University, Japan, Korea Institute of Construction Technology, and Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
