The 45th PIERS (Photonics and Electromagnetics Research Symposium) was successfully held from April 21-25, 2024 (Sunday to Thursday) at the Jinjiang Hotel in Chengdu. This annual event in the optics and electromagnetics community aims to introduce and promote advancements in these fields through a series of large-scale international academic conferences. PIERS 2024 featured 23 topics, covering areas such as optics, photonics, computational electromagnetics, electromagnetic compatibility, electromagnetic scattering theory, metamaterials, antennas, microwaves, remote sensing, radar, and radiation measurement. The symposium included 23 oral presentation sessions, over 200 poster display sessions, and discussions on hot topics led by nine top experts in the field, including Lars Samuelson and Che Ting Chan.
Associate Professor Zhao Yuan, Associate Professor Lan Junqing, and Dr. Yu Tiantian from School of Electronic Engineering led a team to attend this international conference. The participating students included Lu Renpan, Li Yunhao, Liao Shihai, Song Zhiqiang, Zhang Yipeng, Chen Mingli, Liang Jing, Fu Jie, and Wen Yuxiang. The team delivered more than ten oral presentations and published over ten papers. During the conference, the attending faculty and students showcased their research findings in various sessions, engaging in active exchanges and in-depth discussions with fellow experts. Through these interactions, they gained insights into the work of their international peers, clarified their subsequent research directions, and made more scientific plans for future research tasks. Additionally, they established potential topics for international collaboration.
